The National Cardiovascular Research Network has re-opened applications after awarding funding to an array of projects supporting the advancement of cardiovascular research across Wales.
Applications for the Research Responsive Fund, Secure Data Access Catalytic Fund and AURORA are now open for a second round. You can find out more about each funding scheme and how to apply here.
Earlier this month, we announced the awardees for the first round of the Research Responsive Fund, Secure Data Access Catalytic Fund and AURORA.
Thank you to everyone who applied, and a huge congratulations to the successful applicants. In this first round of all three schemes, funding was awarded to the following projects.
Research Responsive Fund
Jonathan Moore, Bangor University, for ‘Pilot Study of Brainstem Neurochemical Signatures of Autonomic Cardiovascular Control Using 3T Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy’.
Emma Rees, Swansea University, for ‘Development of the Heart Failure-BRIDGE; a multi-professional incubation hub to Build Research Inclusivity and Development in Generalist Environments’.
Secure Data Access Catalytic Fund
Jessica Williams, Cardiff Metropolitan University and Mark Kingston, Swansea University, for ‘Data curation to support exploration of the Influence on Treatment and Outcomes of Mode of Hospital Attendance for Suspected Stroke’.
Zoe Adams, Cardiff Metropolitan University, for ‘The impact of polycystic ovary syndrome on hypertension after menopausal transition’.
AURORA
Jamie MacDonald and Guto Wyn Hughes, for ‘Pump it Up/Pwmpiwch Fe!’ A bilingual and inter-generational project designed to introduce children and families to the importance of blood pressure.
Henry Gilbert, for ‘Life After the Shock’, a support group for survivors of cardiac arrest that helps them share their experience and improve care for survivors everywhere.
