Fellowship Opportunities - Now Open!

The National Cardiovascular Research Network (NCRN) connects academics, clinicians, health professionals, industry, and charities to amplify strategically important areas of research excellence in heart and circulatory disease.

We are excited to announce fellowship opportunities, co-funded by Cardiff Metropolitan University and Swansea University, designed to support individuals with the potential to make a meaningful impact in cardiovascular research.

About the Fellowships

Applications are invited from individuals who can articulate a compelling research vision and the ambition to advance their careers, and strengthen the Network’s capacity to deliver research for patient benefit.

Fellowships are intended to give you the flexibility to support your research plans for up to 2 years to enable you to develop your externally funded programme of future research.

Whether you’re transitioning to independence or launching a new research direction, you will be expected to have an emerging track record of research excellence relevant to cardiovascular health or disease.  Alternatively, you should be able to demonstrate how your activities and experience will drive strong interdisciplinary research programmes that positively impact the people of Wales and beyond.

We encourage applications from clinicians, scientists, allied health professionals, and experts in data science, engineering, and related fields.

Research Themes

Your research plans should align with one or more of our strategic themes:

  • Vascular Ageing and Clinical Outcome
  • Tackling Arrhythmias and Myocardial Disease
  • Data and Advanced Analytics

Flexible Duration: Fellowships can be tailored to suit your career stage and project needs, within the defined funding available, and may last up to 2 years full time.

Matched Funding is welcomed but not essential. If you have access to additional funding or in-kind support, we’d be happy to discuss how this could complement your fellowship proposal.

Location: Fellowships will be based at Cardiff Metropolitan University or Swansea University and may involve collaboration with other Higher Education Institutions and/or University Health Boards.

How to Apply

Please note there are different application processes for Cardiff Metropolitan University and Swansea.

Ahead of the application deadline, we invite informal conversations to discuss your project ideas and explore alignment with NCRN priorities. Contact us: [email protected]
