AURORA is a new funding scheme dedicated to supporting community-based outreach and public engagement activities that make cardiovascular research more inclusive.
Around 1 in 4 people will die of cardiovascular disease in Wales this year, and this number is on the rise. That’s why our research is so important.
But we know cardiovascular research often overlooks the perspectives of different demographics, including older adults in care settings, women from diverse ethnic backgrounds and people living in deprived or rural areas.
AURORA is here to change that.
This fund, set up by the National Cardiovascular Research Network, will help build a stronger relationship between cardiovascular research and the people it impacts the most.
Our goal is to ensure every voice is represented in the science that shapes a healthier future for all.
So, if you’re based in Wales and are part of a charity, social enterprise, patient group, school, or local authority – or you just feel this fund could have a positive impact on your community, we want to hear from you.

You don’t need to be a researcher — just someone with a good idea and a commitment to making heart health research more inclusive.
